Our Crazy Life

Raising three kids just one day at a time

End of another season… May 17, 2010

Saturday was the final game for the spring soccer season.  As it’s starting to get hot out now, I can’t say I’m overly sad.  We’ll start up again in September with the fall season except this time Ayden and Jameson will both be playing.

Here’s a few from Saturday’s game…

Get it Ayden!

Ayden went to Pre-K with the little blond boy he’s trying to steal the ball from.  This year they’re at Tyrone Elementary together.

Daddy does a good a good job keeping Ava off the soccer field.  She’s always trying to run out to Ayden:)

Jameson was relaxing while munching on a sausage and egg breakfast burrito.  Yum!

A quick shot before Jason swept her out of harm’s way.

Ayden scores!

Daddy and Ava watched from the sidelines.

Good game…good game…good game…

Final huddle for this spring’s Fireballs.

A rare display of brotherly love…a wonderful mommy moment.

Class Act Teacher! February 15, 2010

Filed under: ayden — Jamie Payne @ 10:29 am

Ayden’s teacher, Mrs. Randers, was voted a Class Act Teacher by 11 Alive News a month or so ago.  I’ve been patiently waiting for them to post the interview on their website since we were unable to catch it on TV and I finally saw it last night.  Ayden is shown twice…check it out!

Mrs Randers truly is an awesome teacher.  I’m not sure that we would be able to get through this year without her compassion and support.  Not only are the kids going to miss her next year in first grade, but so will all the parents!

The 1st Day August 13, 2009

Last week Thursday was “Meet the Teacher” at Tyrone Elementary.  I had heard nothing but great things about Ms Randers (she did his evaluation back in April) so we were pretty excited when we found out that she’ll be Ayden’s teacher this year.  It was exciting to see his room all set up and Ayden wasted no time finding his chair.  7 out of the 18 kids in his class are from Royal Learners so he’ll be surrounded by familiar faces.

Monday was his first day of kindergarten.  I took the day off from work so I could drop him off and pick him up.  Jason went to work late so we could take our little man to breakfast before starting his day.  We both dropped Ayden off at school and he became a little nervous when he saw all of the “big kids”.  Once he was safely in Ms Randers class and he saw some familiar faces, everything was okay.  DSC_0051_edited-1

I think we’re finally getting used to our new routine.  I like dropping all of the kids off at  Lafayette Kids in the morning but Jameson is a little jealous that after breakfast, Ayden gets on the bus and heads to the big kid school.  I have finally gotten used to packing Ayden’s lunch every day and so far there haven’t been any complaints about what I send with him.  Today I remembered that he had to wear socks and tennis shoes for PE.  Jameson and I had a long chat on Tuesday about Ms Emily and Ms Heather having babies in their room and how he wasn’t a baby anymore and that’s why he’s in Ms Katie’s room.  Yesterday we got a great report from Ms Katie that his behavior was much better.  I love to know that my pep talks actually work sometimes.  Ava only got me up once last night so obviously her antibiotic is starting to kick in.  Now we’re just waiting for her test results before we schedule more tests to check for blockage issues.  Tomorrow I’m only working a half day so I can get ready for Ayden’s birthday party on Saturday.  He still can’t decide if he wants a Star Wars or Transformers theme.  I’m about to decide for him when I call to order the cake.

Wish me luck!

Poor Baby Ava July 15, 2009

Filed under: ayden — Jamie Payne @ 12:50 pm

Saturday evening I noticed that Ava felt a bit warm and by Sunday morning she was running a pretty high fever.  We tried the Tylenol/Motrin mix all day Sunday which normally works, but we just couldn’t get her fever to break.  I took the day off on Monday so I could take her to the doctor.  Poor baby girl.  Her face was all flushed and she was just so droopy.

Dr. Goza checked her ears, lungs and throat but couldn’t find a thing.  Finally she asked me if I noticed a different odor with Ava’s urine.  I sure did!  In fact there have been many times that I went to change her after a nap and thought for sure I was dealing with a full load.  Nope…just stinky potty.  So that along with a decrease in appetite, cranky attitude and a hard time sleeping led Dr. Goza to think Ava may have a urinary tract infection.  They inserted a catheter to get a urine sample and we should have the results today.  In the mean time, we started her on an antibiotic on Monday and I could definitely see a difference in her disposition this morning.

Apparently, urinary tract infections (UTI’s) can be more severe in children under the age of two.  If Ava’s test results come back positive, they will do an ultrasound to check her kidneys and bladder.  They’ll also do a VCUG which shows whether urine is backing up from the bladder to the kidneys.  Dr. Goza thinks this bacterial infection is a result of  the bowel issues we were experiencing back in May.

Right now we are trying to keep her hydrated and the fever under control.   She is such a sweet baby and I hate to think of her in any discomfort.  Despite not feeling well, Ava has definitely perked up and was all smiles for us this morning.

We’ll keep you posted on her progress!

Kindergarten…Here I Come!!! June 1, 2009

On Sunday Ayden graduated from Pre-K.  The ceremony was held at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone and was the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.  Each child came to the front and said what they want to be when they grow up and then they had a few songs to sing. as a group.  A couple of the teachers read a poem and then the children came back up for their diplomas.  This is one of the perks of private school.  They know how to make it seem like the thousands of dollars you just invested in your child’s education was worth it.  Thank goodness Ayden starts public school in August!
